Wireless Mesh is the Hottest Thing in Wi-Fi. Here’s everything You Need to Know About It!

Wireless Mesh is the Hottest Thing in Wi-Fi. Here’s everything You Need to Know About It!If you’ve ever had trouble with a Wi-Fi “dead zone” in your office or home, then wireless mesh is going to be something you’ll want to know more about.

Do you have to adjust where you sit to get a good signal? Do you have a tri-level home or an office building with thick block walls? These are just two types of structures where a wireless router can have trouble sending a reliable signal.

While the name “wireless mesh” sounds like some sort of net or screen, it’s actually a better and more powerful way to boost the range of your Wi-Fi signal to reach everywhere in your home or business. The “mesh” name comes from the rich interconnection between the nodes or devices in the system.

Mesh Wi-Fi is an emerging technology that the Quantum PC Services Network Setup Team has been keeping an eye on for a while. The technology was initially too expensive for easy residential or small business adoption, but all that’s changed now.

Now that wireless mesh technology is more affordable, it’s proving to be one of the hottest technologies for home and office connection, especially with smart homes and offices on the rise in Sturgeon Bay, WI and the rest of the country.

57% of Americans say smart home products save them about 30 minutes per day.

Electronic gadgets like smart locks, voice assistants, app-controlled thermostats, and lighting are all in demand and all need a reliable internet connection to work properly. According to Alarms.org, 57% of Americans say smart home products save them time, and over 50% of them say they plan to buy one to increase their home value.

So, how does a wireless mesh system work and why would you need one? We’ll go over the basics of this popular technology and do a product comparison of some of the brands out there (including our favorite).

How Does a Wireless Mesh System Work?

If you’re just using a stand-alone router in your home or office, you know that the farther you get from the signal, the weaker it becomes. You can also lose the signal if there are too many solid walls in the way.

A mesh network creates a continuous signal throughout your building or home, removing those “dead zones” and offering a stronger and more reliable connection because the nodes delivering the signal are more static.

The wireless mesh system consists of a main receiver that connects directly to your cable or DSL, or it can work with your existing router. Then to spread the steady signal throughout your home or office, you have “antennas” or mesh access points.

Mesh Wi-Fi takes the signal from your router and rebroadcasts it to the access points with improved signal strength so any of your Wi-Fi connected devices can easily get a strong signal even if they’re in the farthest corner away from your main router.
